The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), an organization established by the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1986 to combat mass unemployment, has commenced the registration of unemployed individuals in all twenty local government areas of Lagos State. The exercise, which began on April 17, 2023, will continue until April 28, 2023, at both the NDE state office located at 7 Barikisu Iyede Street, Onike, Yaba, and the designated centers in the local government areas.
According to the Coordinator of the Lagos State NDE office, Mrs. Serena Edward, the registration of unemployed persons is an effort by the federal government to curtail unemployment and reduce the desire for white-collar jobs that do not meet the needs of the increasing number of graduates produced annually.

Mrs. Edward encouraged all unemployed individuals in Lagos State to participate in the exercise and register at their respective local government centers. She emphasized that this registration exercise will enable the federal government to obtain complete data on the number of unemployed individuals in the country, which will aid in the creation of adequate plans for their benefit.
